18 Vehicles You Should Never Buy and Why

Apart from buying or constructing a new home, a vehicle is probably the second-biggest investment that you can make in a lifetime. And just like when shopping for anything, you need to carefully look at your options so that you can ensure that you’ll get your money’s worth.

Automobiles are not created equal. So when purchasing one, you need to consider its fuel efficiency, performance, power, safety, and reliability. And, of course, you have to check if it fits your budget as well.

Here is a list of vehicles that you should never buy at all costs:

2007 Chevrolet Colorado

Are you looking for a used pickup truck? Say no to the 2007 Chevrolet Colorado. Although this model has earned good crash test scores, the engine is not as powerful as the other pickup trucks out there. Its off-road ability, as well as its towing capacity, is poor, not to mention its not-so-good interior.

2008 Dodge Avenger

The 2008 Dodge Avenger has replaced the Stratus. While it is true that it is one of the most stylish in the midsize sedan category, it seems like it doesn’t have anything else to offer other than that. Its trunk space is not as wide as that of its competitors. Plus, the performance is not what you are expecting for sure.

2011-2014 BMW X5

Even BMW is not free from reliability issues. The 2011 to 2014 X5 models came with faulty climate control, defective engine parts, and poor fuel systems. You sure don’t want to deal with these problems if you intend to purchase a second-hand vehicle, so you might as well stay away from the said models.

2019 Dodge Journey

This one here may be fairly new, but when it comes to midsize SUVs, the 2019 Dodge Journey is not a very good option. Although it is quite affordable, that does not make up for its limited safety features. Plus, it doesn’t really have the power that any driver would want.

2011-2014 Ford Fiesta

Just like BMW, the Ford Fiesta 2011 to 2014 models are not the best, particularly when it comes to small cars. They came with several transmission and audio system issues. Their body integrity is not that reliable either, which is why their rankings in the consumer reports are below average.

2019 Fiat X

Although the 2019 Fiat X comes with a sturdy appeal, the tight rear seats and cargo area are not admirable. It may have a good amount of power but it tends to get noisy in hard acceleration, not to mention that it isn’t the best when talking about fuel efficiency.

2019 Mitsubishi Mirage

The Mirage is affordable, but I guess this is the only advantage of this small car. The cabin materials are of poor quality. The engine is weak and it doesn’t have that much of safety features either. And besides, if you have a family, this vehicle is definitely not a match.

2007 Dodge Caravan

This minivan has been designed for people on a budget. However, if you have the extra money, I suggest you look for something else. The 2007 Dodge Caravan has limited cargo room and the cabin materials are cheaply made. The reliability rating is low too.

2014-2016 Volkswagen Jetta

The Volkswagen Jetta may be the most popular model in the United States. But if this is the brand that you want, I strongly suggest that you say no to anything from 2014 to 2016 if you don’t want to struggle with the audio system and climate control. Its interior finish is not very attractive either.

2008 GMC Canyon

If you are in the market looking for a midsize truck, you should avoid the 2008 GMC Canyon. It may be appealing and easy to maneuver but it is under-powered and the interior materials aren’t the best choice. Trust me, there are a numerous pickup trucks out there that are far better than this model.

2014 Jeep Patriot

Aside from the price, the 2014 Jeep Patriot doesn’t have a good performance. The interior quality doesn’t match the price tag as well and it is not fuel-efficient. You’d be better off with another SUV.

2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade

Cadillac Escalade owners are not satisfied when it comes to the transmission, body quality, as well as powertrain and finish quality of the 2015 and 2016 models. It seems like the reliability ratings of these vehicles have gotten worse.

2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

The Chevrolet Trailblazer released in 2007 has an amazing performance, However, its drawbacks include poor fuel economy and not so attractive interior quality. Go for the most recent model or another brand of an SUV.

2015 Audi Q7

Although the latest models of Audi Q7 are remarkable, the one from 2015 was not the best. According to surveys, the vehicle comes with brake system issues and multiple problems when it comes to body integrity and audio components. So if you are a fan of Audi, avoid the 2015 model and go for the newest ones.

2008 Saturn VUE Hybrid

Despite the fact that the 2008 Saturn VUE Hybrid is fuel-efficient, it doesn’t offer an all-wheel drive. You wouldn’t find the seats comfortable either and I bet you won’t be happy with the overall handling as well. If you want to get the most value for your money, stay away from this model and look for something more reliable.

2012-2013 Fiat 500

When talking about Fiat, the 500 is regarded as their worst performer, particularly those that were released in 2012 and 2013. The body finish, power equipment, suspension, and brakes are poor. Plus, this car is too small.

2015 Jeep Compass

The Jeep Compass is a compact SUV known for its amazing off-roading ability. However, you should never buy the 2015 model as it lacks the appeal, both interior and exterior. The overall performance isn’t something that you can expect from a 4-cylinder engine as well. And it is not fuel-efficient, so do not try to burn your money on this one.

2008 Isuzu i-370

First of all, the 2008 Isuzu i-370 is weaker than the other compact pickups. The materials are subpar and the configurations are not the best. So if I were you, you better look for a more powerful pickup truck that fits your budget.
